Consultation
In this quick consultation, the goal was to open up a dark, closed-off entry and rethink a kitchen that was interrupting the flow of the main floor.
The original layout created a series of barriers: the fridge formed a solid wall against the dining room, the breakfast nook took up valuable kitchen space, and the sitting area was right beside the powder room door, which opened directly into the kitchen.
By relocating the fridge and replacing the breakfast nook with a sit-in island, the kitchen became wider and more functional, while the dining room gained light and a stronger connection to the rest of the main floor.
Opening up the entry and removing the staircase wall transformed the arrival into a brighter, more welcoming space. Redesigning the powder room entrance moved the door away from the kitchen and created much-needed privacy, while also making room for a proper coat closet and a small drop zone for keys and everyday items.
The result is a main floor that feels noticeably more open and connected, with better light, smoother circulation, and a kitchen that finally works with the space rather than against it.
